Meet Martha Perez
Martha Perez is an Ecuadorian with an executive secretary degree with a diplomacy specialty. Martha worked for 18 years at the Ecuadorian Embassy in Washington, D.C. During her time at the Ecuadorian Embassy Martha had the opportunity to learn about North American culture and to meet people from around the world.
DESIRE TO SHARE THE BEST OF BOTH CULTURES
“Now that I’m back living in Ecuador, with all of my experience in the U.S., I want to take what I have learned from the best of both cultures and help foreign visitors have a good experience with my country. It is so delightful to have the chance to show visitors how wonderful and magnificent Ecuador is.
“Hugo and I now live at Casa Izabella, close to Quito in the region of the valley of Cumbaya. We have the most beautiful view of the valley, surrounded by the majesty of the volcanoes, the pure air and nature. On a clear day, we can see nine volcanoes in the distance, like guardians keeping our valley safe.”
Meet Hugo Perez
Hugo went to college in the U.S. as a young man and lived there for 42 years. He has degrees as a dental/mechanical and industrial/mechanical engineer. After college, he worked for Reynolds Aluminum as a technician. He opened the Reynolds plant in Woodbridge, NJ. Later he worked for Richard Corporation in Chantilly, VA. While there, he designed and created parts for one of the first aerial photography machines.
After retiring from Richard Corporation, Martha ad Hugo decided to move back to Ecuador. As a retired person Hugo is very much enjoying being back in his country. He spends his spare time now doing woodwork in his shop making beautiful inlaid wooden tea boxes and platters and helping Martha design the gardens on their 2 1/2 acre property.
Hugo loves to share the wonderful experience of his life in Ecuador with guests who come to Casa Izabella.
History of Casa Izabella
10 years ago Martha and Hugo decided to move back to Ecuador and spent one year searching for the perfect property. After looking at over 100 properties, Martha saw a newspaper add one morning but she was too sick to view the land. Martha’s daughter Tatiana and Hugo looked and the property and reported that it was PERFECT!
Martha and Hugo purchased the property right away, even before Martha had a chance to see it. The land upon which Casa Izabella stands is truly perfect; Hugo and Tatiana made a good choice!
Hugo started construction in 1999 while Martha was working in New York, NY. During the two years of construction Martha regularly sent building supplies and money from the United States. The result of this hard work is the North American inspired Casa Izabella.
